English Language Requirement – Australia.
The Australian High Commission accept test results from the following specified English language tests for Student visa purposes taken in any country:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based test (TOEFL iBT)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) test (also known as Certificate in Advanced English).
- Occupational English Test (OET)
The IELTS score requirements vary from course to course and from university to university. Most universities require an IELTS score of 6.0-6.5 for graduate and that of 6.5- 7.0 for postgraduate courses. However, there are several undergraduate courses which require a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 as well. So you need to check what applies in your case.

If students fall short of the desired IELTS score for their course, they’ll need to enroll for an English language program called ELICOS to pursue their studies in Australia.
